Neon Ghost of Linda Li

Neon ghost floating in cigarette smoke
an azure forhead beneath a neon sign
eyes with flashes of electric blue
a symbol of the matrix deep behind.

A cowboy's dream of cyberspace
her lips a portal to a flash of white
beyond the reach of men who laugh
she's a denizen of electronic night.

Living in the dim of designer drug haze
cat-suited, augmented, hard-eyed, lean
her laugh is sonic, and in the dark
she rules stilyagi a hard-eyed queen.

I crashed against her crystal soul
my own a diamond studded wire
my slash and drag struck sparks
that made no mark in her diamond's fire.

I shredded my mind against her thoughts
in a matrix of electronic loss
where feeling, caring, heart and fire
are discarded as a lovers' dross.

Crystalline and beautiful as night
a transient goddess she
I gave my heart and burned my nerves
against the steel of Linda Li.
