Otherkin Dreams

Somewhere after midnight
in abstract fantasies
I lay half-awake and dream of planes
with alien geometry.

I dream of heroes.
I dream of giants in ice-plated steel.
I dream of demons
and wonder if it all could be real.

In the dusky darkness
beside a rolling sea
with a shoreline of red crystal sand
my soul leaves and floats far from me.

In dreams of heroes
I am a giant in a warring land.
I fight in battles
and combat sun-demons hand-to-hand.

Hiding from the sunlight
fleeing the battlefield
I scream my rage at the flocking crows
laughing at the men that I lead.

My dreams are crushing
the old legends of a time so long lost.
I fight in battles
won or forfeit at terrible cost

Where have all the giants gone?
Where have gone all the gods?
We are the sons of lesser men
awash in the tides of loss.
