Chicken Italiano (Slow Cooker)

This is one of those Italian recipes that's Italian only by courtesy. A recipe for the Italian salad dressing mix accompanies this recipe. 10 minutes preparation followed by about 8 hours in the slow cooker means this is a very easy dish.
Ingredients/Shopping List
- 4 chicken breasts
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1-2 ounce Italian salad dressing mix
- ½ cup water

Directions
Mix Italian dressing mix and water; Pour over Chicken breasts in slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours.
After 6 hours, mix cream of mushroom soup, broth, and cream cheese. Pour over chicken; continue cooking for 2 hours.
Serve over noodles or rice. Mashed potatoes are a good side dish as are peas or green vegetables.
Note: To make your own Italian Salad dressing mix:
Salad Dressing Mix Ingredients
- 1/3 cup powdered Parmesan cheese
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 Tbsp. paprika
- 2 tsp. celery seed
- 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp. dried Italian seasoning blend
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Directions:
Mix ingredients in a medium bowl and stir well to blend. Store mix in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. Will keep for several months.
To make salad dressing, combine 2 tablespoons of mix, 2 tablespoons of water, 2/3 cup of canola oil, and ¼ cup of white vinegar.
