Meat Loaf with Sour Cream

Main Dish

Yet another meat loaf in my vast array. This one features milk and sour cream as its distinctive features. Quick to prepare, only 15 minutes, and quick to cook, just 1 hour 5 minutes. This is a 2 pound meat loaf so you should get 8 to 12 servings.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°.

Melt butter in skillet over medium heat; cook onion and garlic for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper; reserve.

Mix beef, bread, crackers, egg, sour cream, ½ can of tomato sauce, and Worcestershire. When thoroughly mixed, add onion and garlic mixture and toss well.

Gradually stir in milk until mixture can be formed into a loaf. Use a 5x9 loaf pan for best results

Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes then increase oven temperature to 400° and bake for 15 minutes more.

Make a topping for the meat loaf of ketchup and remaining tomato sauce. Pour over the top of the loaf then bake for 10 more minutes at 400°. Total baking time is 65 minutes.

YMMV ovens are very different. If you have a meat thermometer, internal temperature of the loaf after the first 40 minutes should be about 160°. If not continue baking until it is, then continue following directions.
