Mesquite Smoked Jerky

Other

A replacement for that expensive "store bought" jerky. Hickory smoke flavoring or liquid smoke makes an interesting addition. Attributed to Kaprer. Prep Time: 30 Minutes Cook Time: 8 Hours Ready In: 8 Hours 30 Minutes Yields: 4 servings

Directions

In a shallow glass baking dish, stir together the soy sauce, brown sugar, liquid smoke, paprika, garlic, and salt. Lay the meat strips in the liquid in a single layer. Cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.

Arrange strips of beef in a dehydrator, and let dry for 6 hours.

Alternatively: place on the top rack of your oven (might want to put some foil down, but do not lay out the jerky on the foil) at 200° for 4-6 hours (depending on your oven).
