Pork Chops in the Crock Pot
Main Dish
This is a cook-ahead meal. You can fry the pork chops first thing in the morning, drop them in the Crock Pot (slow cooker, whatever) and they'll be ready for supper when you get home. Fifteen minutes to prepare in the morning followed by 8 hours in the slow cooker provides 4 servings.
Ingredients/Shopping List
- 2 tablespoons shortening (oil if you prefer)
- 4 pork chops (I like the big butterfly chops)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cups milk
Directions
Heat shortening or oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
Dip chops in beaten egg then dredge in flour. Cook 3-5 minutes turning once to brown on both sides.
Remove chops to Crock Pot. Arrange onion slices over chops.
Mix soup and milk then pour into Crock Pot. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
Serving suggestion: I like mashed potatoes and green beans with these pork chops. The gravy left in the Crock Pot is great over the potatoes.
